At the heart of our mission is the conviction that by fostering strong communities, we contribute to a brighter collective future. Our Roadmap of How We Are Making a Difference
Creating Opportunities Through Digital Skills
For many young people in Embalenhle, access to skills can be the key to unlocking employment opportunities.
Through our partnership with Secunda FET College, unemployed youth from the community are enrolled in accredited Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word courses, equipping them with practical digital skills for the workplace.
This year’s students have officially begun their training, taking an important step towards greater independence and opportunity.
By supporting programmes like this, we aim to help remove barriers to employment, empower local youth, and contribute to stronger, more resilient communities.
Supporting Local Healthcare Capacity in the De Aar Project Area
As part of Aurex Constructors’ ongoing Supplier Development initiatives linked to the Du Plessis Dam Solar Project in De Aar, the company continues to support local suppliers delivering essential services within the project area.
Through this initiative, Aurex provided assistance to Vuyani Clinic (Pty) Ltd, a local occupational healthcare provider responsible for medical screening and compliance services for project personnel.
The support enabled the procurement of specialised medical equipment and additional staff training, enhancing the clinic’s capacity to deliver efficient, high-quality occupational healthcare services to both Aurex projects and the wider community.
This initiative forms part of Aurex’s broader commitment to strengthening local businesses, developing skills, and building sustainable service capacity within host communities.
Joy, Gratitude & Growth: Aurex Brings Hope to Kagiso's Girls' Growth Group
On 22 May 2025, Aurex was warmly welcomed in Kagiso, Krugersdorp, as we handed over essential resources to the Girls Growth Group (GGG), a non-profit supporting underprivileged girls.
As we arrived, the streets were filled with cheering, singing, and heartfelt gratitude—a powerful reminder of the impact a small gesture can have.
Founded in 2021, GGG supports vulnerable girls aged 7 to 17, helping them navigate challenges like substance abuse, teen pregnancy, and lack of access to education.
Through our SED partnership, Aurex donated 50 desks, 20 chairs, 8 laptops, 2 whiteboards, 4 storage bins, and 2 first aid kits—resources that will help create safer, more structured learning spaces and promote digital inclusion.
We’re proud to be part of this journey, knowing that beyond the donation, we’re reminding these young girls that they are seen, valued, and supported.
Ivory Park High School: Girl Soccer Referee Kit Sponsorship
On August 7, 2023, Aurex Constructors contributed a Referee Kit, including a shirt, shorts, stopwatch, boots, socks, sports bag, whistles, and a set of red and yellow cards, to grade 11 learner Lerato Mofokeng. This donation is a stepping stone for Lerato to generate income for her low-income family, where both parents are currently unemployed.
Rise Against Hunger: Food packing for 45412 meals
Rise Against Hunger, an international humanitarian organisation, is dedicated to building a global movement to end hunger. Their mission involves empowering communities, nourishing lives, and responding to emergencies. Operating across the U.S. and five international offices, the organisation not only provides immediate nourishment to those facing hunger today but also implements sustainable solutions for long-term community upliftment. Aurex Constructors proudly collaborates with Rise Against Hunger through annual Mandela Day meal-packing events. These events serve as a platform to foster employee volunteering, allowing team members to generously contribute their time and effort to this important cause. In 2023, Aurex Constructors employees packed a remarkable total of 45,412 meals, showcasing their commitment to making a positive impact on global hunger.
Secunda FET College: Community Computer Upskilling Training
Aurex Constructors and Secunda FET College joined forces in a transformative initiative, offering a life-changing opportunity to 10 local community members in Embalenhle. Together, we launched a Basic Computer Skills course, providing essential knowledge to empower them for future endeavours. Our goal is to unlock new opportunities and enhance their marketability, believing in their potential to find employment and thrive in their careers. Since the program's inception in 2021, we have extended this opportunity to 50 community members, with 47 of them successfully absorbed into Aurex on both short and long-duration projects. This initiative is done annually to ensure continued upskilling.
Newlands East u11 Soccer Team: Kit sponsorship
Aurex Constructors demonstrated its commitment to community well-being by donating soccer kits to the Newlands East U11 Soccer Team. This team, founded and coached by Aurex employee Andre Houston, a QC inspector at the Shell Fuel Depots in Durban, serves as a crucial haven for children in a challenging environment marked by daily exposure to gangsterism, prostitution, drugs, and alcohol. Recognising the need for a safe space, Andre not only coaches the under-11 soccer team but also mentors the children, dedicating his after-hours time to assist them with their homework. Aurex is proud to support positive initiatives like the Newlands Sporting Football Club, as part of our commitment to making a lasting impact on the communities where we operate.
Mighty Young Ones Soccer team: Kit Sponsorship
Aurex Constructors continued its support for the Mighty Young Once FC community soccer team by donating soccer boots and tracksuits. This follows a previous donation in 2022 when Aurex Constructors provided the team with full soccer kits. The Mighty Young Once FC is based in Upington, Northern Cape, and Aurex Constructors is proud to contribute to the team's equipment and well-being.
Boitjhorisong Welding Skills Program: Community upskilling
The BRC Welding Training Centre has successfully completed six cohorts, providing training to 62 community members in the Basic Welding program, all of whom graduated. Additionally, 16 individuals advanced to the second welding course, specialising in TIG welding. The Zamdela community faces a shortage of skilled welders, and this centre aims to address this challenge by offering locals an opportunity to gain welding certification. The goal is to empower individuals to secure employment or establish their own businesses. Notably, the first group of 12 candidates, who commenced their training in March, witnessed 11 graduates successfully completing their program and receiving certifications by November 2020.
