Fine Ash Dam (FAD6)

At Sasol’s Secunda operations, Aurex Constructors played a pivotal role in the delivery of Fine Ash Dam 6 (FAD6)—a critical infrastructure project designed to support the long-term sustainability of one of South Africa’s largest industrial complexes. Initially commissioned to replace the decommissioned FAD5 facility, FAD6 evolved into a multi-phase effort extending from 2018 through 2022, incorporating engineering enhancements and sustained maintenance to optimise efficiency and regulatory compliance.

Commissioned by Sasol and managed by Hatch Engineering, Aurex deployed a 260-person team to execute the Outside Battery Limits (OSBL) Slurry Transfer System, integrating 15 kilometres of piping, structural steel supports, and mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems. Delivered in multiple phases, the project required strict environmental adherence, technical coordination, and precision in execution, ensuring seamless integration within Sasol’s larger industrial framework.

FAD6 successfully replaced the decommissioned FAD5 facility, restoring vital slurry management capacity and supporting Sasol’s long-term environmental and operational objectives. The project reinforced infrastructure reliability, regulatory compliance, and long-term sustainability.
